Archives of Organisations
Find out more about organisations
We hold the archives of several naturalists groups and environmental organisations, as well as horticultural records. Organisational records contain a huge variety of information on the natural environment, including species records, conservation campaigns and landscape change. They also help map changes in how environmental and public policy decisions have been made on a local and national level.
You can explore these collections through the links below and through our Collection Strengths categories landscaping and horticulture.
Established in 1946, the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust archive contains over 70 years of biological recordings and is one of our largest collections.
Founded in 1874, the York and District Field Naturalists' Society ran until 2002, and collected species records for York and the surrounding area.
Created in 1970 by prominent York naturalist Michael Thompson, the Yorkshire Mammal Group focuses on recording mammal species across the region.
Formed in 1995, the Yorkshire Gardens Trust conserves the parks and gardens of the county, for the benefit of all. The archive includes garden histories, species records and details of horticultural restoration work.
